What role does temperament/personality play in the selection of a dressage horse?
Q:
A: Your choice may depend on the level that you are riding and your goals. Teamworkdressage recommends a simple but critical rule regarding purchasing a horse - choose a generous, willing horse who is clearly happy doing his job - temperament/personality is key.
It does not matter how well a horse is bred, how pretty it looks or how well it moves, if that horse does not have a generous and willing work it is not a temperament/personality type that you want to purchase or have to deal with.
A good and generous mind/temperament/personality on a horse is critical and with good training often overcomes a horse's perceived weak areas eg. movement, age, breeding, etc
