Tips from "O" Judge Axel Steiner by Jules Anderson
Axel Steiner, International "O" dressage judge was in Atlanta, GA heading a much anticipated Dresssage Symposium and Jules was in attendence with several horses.
Tips:
*Axel was very strict that the rider was in good alignment in the saddle - shoulder, hip, heel - and many of us were stripped of our stirrups to lengthen the leg.
*He challenged the riders to sell their performance as they ride the test. In fact he reminded us all to remember that a dressage test is a presentation and we are to make it look easy, beautiful and hopefully brilliant.
*Axel often worked from the ground following the horses around the arena, with an in hand whip encouraging the horses to move with more expression, energy and briiiance. His timing was impeccable and all the riders felt the new energy in their horses,
Thanks Axel for a great Symposium. We were all inspired!
