Dressage at Lexington
|
Dressage at Lexington, VA 11/13 July '09 has grown to be a huge, well organized show under Debbie Rodriguez's leadership and her terrific team of volunteers. There were nine rings on Sunday, eight, Friday and Saturday. Teamwork competed Vivaldi-V, Primadonna and Absolut. We also had clients Deborah Brookhouser, riding Sebastien and Meghan Michaels. riding Gold Standard with us; so rather predictably, we had lot's of 'collective, team fun' at this show!
Primadonna competed training level and earned two over 70% in two of her tests and collected a fist, two seconds & a fifth.

Ride for Life : Dancing with the Stars

PVDA once again show-cased well known dressage riders and their horses who performed musical freestyles to raise money for breast cancer research for John Hopkins University. The venue was Prince George's Equestrian Center, MD and there was a large and appreciative audience in attendance for the evening gala. The Gala tickets included a tasty buffet, a much anticipated lecture from Olympian, Debbie McDonald and a terrific band.
Linda Zang FEI "O" judge presided over the Celebrity Freestyle and scored seven wonderful freestyle performances each highlighted with dramatic lighting.

Jules on her knees at Chris Hickey's feet!
|
OK, it's hardly a raunchy tale but it did happen at the VADA/NOVA Dressage, June 6-7th '09. First time at a show, young Primadonna lived up to her name, objecting to going over a muddy ditch at the bottom of a small slope. She lost her balance falling down in a messy heap right in front of Christopher who launched into action, capturing Primadonna as she was getting up and assisting a muddied Jules to her feet. Thank you Christopher for your quick action, saving the day, as always you are our knight in shining armor! Around twenty minutes later Jules guided Primadonna to a second place at training level - only one side of horse and rider where muddied for this test.

Darrin Mollett and The Barrister
|
Lexington Horse Trials VA on 23-24 May was well attended. Darrin and her handsome horse The Barrister (AKA Teddy) showed CCI1*. Darrin tied for first place in the dressage which was rewarding, receiving an eight for her position and effect of the aids. Darrin and Teddy did finish, however, they had an unfortunate stop Cross Country which dropped them out of the placings.
Darrin and Teddy are now in training at the O'Connor barn in VA and with their help we are sure they will continue to develop their super partnership.

Old Grand Prix videos re-discovered...
|
We have recently discovered how to copy our old videos on to DVDs and then tinker with them in windows movie maker. The results so far are short videos of Wurlitzer & Goodwood performing Grand Prix in the late 1990's. Jules trained both these horses from First Level to competitive Grand Prix.

Primadonna owners are Roberta Paula and her daughter Marie. They love this young mare and affectionately call her Angel, which we also use as her barn name.

Spring is Here at Last!
|
We are in full bloom at teamworkdressage, our farm Jilba is covered in flowering daffodils, tulips, dogwoods and cherry trees.
Apart from appreciating the 'sometimes' warm Spring, I am happy to report that Jules is moving more freely with each day - post ladder collapse accident - and is able to handle our increased work schedule. Yeah! She has recently judged eventing dressage in Akin, SC April 4th and has attended a USEF dressage judging clinic in Lexington, KY April 7/8th.

Jules Dressage Clinic #4, Aiken, SC - Craig Thompson Eventing.com
|
Jules flew to SC, 16/17th March '09 and was pleased with the confidence and presentation of her rider's new found balance in the saddle and improved skill sets. Her rider's were in better control of their core, able to stabilize their bodies, minimize their aids, while riding much better too their horses mouth. Easy right? Jules was so happy to see horse's being half halted primarily with their rider's core and was delighted to see her rider's encouraging their horse's to chew and reach for the reins, especially when performing collected work.

Claudia and Craig Novick hosted a Dressage Clinic with Jules, at their thoughtfully designed, gorgeous farm, in NC.
