Jules Anderson & teamworkdressage

Jules Anderson & teamworkdressage

Equestrian Highlights:

* Over the last decade I have shown Grand Prix on many horses that I have trained from the start of their dressage careers. Ten of these talented horses scored over 60% in their first attempt at Grand Prix. In this time frame I have also consistently placed in international competition and trained many students to their bronze, silver and gold USDF medals, Regional Championship wins and end of year awards.

* For several years I have regularly participated in Jules Anderson & teamworkdressageclinics with top trainers Conrad Schumacher and Bert Rutten. I have also had the privilege to train with Courtney King-Dye and Michelle Gibson. Other invaluable clinicians that have shaped my riding include: Steffen Peters, Linda Zang, Axel Steiner, Gary Rockwell, Stephen Clarke, Volker Moritz, Christoph Hess, Rosemary Springer, Eric Lette, Christopher Bartle, Kyra Kyrklund, Clemens Dierks and Karl Milkolka.Jules Anderson & teamworkdressage

* Goodwood (photo left) and I qualified for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and were long listed on the Australian team. Due to an unfortunate ligament injury that Goodwood sustained, we were sadly unable to contend.

* Fabrice-S (photo lower left), was owned by clients Holly and William Hains, with myself as the rider/ trainer won the 2003 US National FEI 6yr Old Young Horse Championship, with a score of 8.32. Jules Anderson & teamworkdressageHolly also won and placed in three Region3 Championships and earned the USDF bronze medal, riding Fabrice. Shortly before he was sold, Fabrice and I showed Grand Prix together, winning with a 69%.

* Leopold-Q (photo below right) and Vivaldi- V both placed in the top ten at the 2006 Markel National FEI Young Horse Jules Anderson & teamworkdressageChampionships with

myself as the rider and trainer. Leopold and I were awarded the US Bred Young Horse Award at Devon CDI as a 4yr old and two years later in 2007, as a 6yr old. Additionally that year at Devon, Leopold and I won two of the fourth level classes.

* Over 2007, I introduced four horses that I had trained from the start of their dressage careers, to the Grand Prix. One of these horses was my own Narobi, one of my three rescue horses. All four of these terrific horses - two older driving horses and two ex-eventers - scored over 60%, in their first competition, at Grand Prix.

Jules Anderson & teamworkdressage* April 2008, I re-located from my long term base in GA to join my Mother, Libby Anderson, in Virginia. Libby officially retired from judging and riding due to ongoing health issues. I have been self employed for such a long time, it is a lot of fun to be working along side my Mum, in supportive teamwork.

* Winter 2008, I spent four months training and competing my own horses in sunny Florida. Previously, I had trailered Jules Anderson & teamworkdressagehorses from my base in Georgia to compete in Florida's bigger competitions, then trailered twelve hours back home, to resume my busy training responsibilities. So those four months that I spent focusing solely on my own horses was a much anticipated scenario and a great experience. Some of my Florida show highlights include: winning two developing Horse Tests with Brendon Braveheart (photo left); winning Grand Prix with Narobi (photo above), under "O" judge, Gary Rockwell with a 68%; Vivaldi-V (photo below) won two FEI Young Horse Six Year classes and did well at third level scoring over Jules Anderson & teamworkdressage70%.

* June 2008 at Raleigh CDI Vivaldi-V tied Reserve Champion Six Year Old in the East Coast FEI Young Horse Finals, behind Cabana Boy. The tie had to be broken and this was based on where the horse was bred. Vivaldi was bred by Burt Rutten in the Netherlands so second place went to the US bred horse.

* Showing locally in Virginia during 2008, I won over twenty classes and earned many high point awards. Libby and I were really pleased with our teamworkdressage horses and their outstanding results.

* For the last ten year's I have enjoyed teaching event riders and I am proud of their success - several are Olympians. I have found that eventer's generally have a balanced seat, so they are able to quickly improve their dressage, which is mutually rewarding.

Below are some of the events that shaped my decision to become a Dressage Professional.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My mother, Jules Anderson & teamworkdressageLibby was very influential in the foundation of the Pony Club movement in Australia. So naturally as children my sister and I were Aussie Pony Clubbers, we chased cows, jumped bareback, barrel raced and gradually developed the Aussie 'balanced seat'. We also 'thought' we could ride pretty much anything and when we where tossed, we would get a ice cream for climbing back up into the saddle.

I was privileged to have had many equine friends while growing up:

Jules Anderson & teamworkdressagePepper, my kind first pony; rough and tumble Tuffy who ditched me for fun every day; terrific Marco Polo who could jump his own height; Blue who taught me respect and timing of the aids or else; opinionated Flicka who taught me perseverance and anger control; lovely Eclipse who taught me the feel of a swinging and elastic back; gentle Jefferson who taught me the beginnings of lateral work and flying changes; dynamic Checkmate who excelled in every discipline and matching Cinnamon and Cardamom who my sister and I backed and later sold to identJules Andersonical twins; generous Brownie, an upside down showjumper who taught me to enjoy showjumping and guided me to many wins (he is pictured above). I loved and learnt from them all...

As a teenager eventing was my discipline of choice mostly because of my brave horse, Coppertop (photo right). We won and placed in two National Pony Club Eventing Championships which forever shaped me as a rider.

While at university attaining a BA degree, Libby encouraged me to compete her Grand Prix horse for the period of one year. Rivoli Majestic (photo below) was a handsome, black, Australian stock horse, whose prior career, before he met my Mother, had been polo.

Jules Anderson & 'teamworkdressage'Rivoli and Libby became one of the top Grand Prix combinations in Australia. So the year I had with Rivoli under Libby's tutelage was a seriously unique opportunity. By the end of my year with Rivoli I had represented Australia, competed in two CDI's and was the youngest Grand Prix rider in Australia, at that time. Libby also saw that I had many opportunities to train under dressage greats: Rosemary Springer, Karl Milkolka, Christopher Bartle, Clemens Dierks and Kyra Kyrklund.

Shortly after, I gained my BA at the University of New England and earned a postgraduate degree from one of London's five accredited theater schools, Mount view.

Later, in Adelaide, South Australia, my home for five years, I earned the Diploma of Education. While studying for my Dip.Ed., I started to teach some dressage lessons and quickly rediscovered my love of horses. So having completed my various degrees I decided to became a professional dressage rider/trainer/teacher and put on permanent hold my planned career in theater.

I still love the theater but without doubt, the best decision of my life was to return to my first love, horses.

While living in Reynella, South Australia I earned the strict Level One (Australian) Equestrian Coaching Certification. I also served a three-year tenure as President, of the Dressage Club of Reynella which I also founded. During this time period I became a "A" level (Grand Prix) Candidate Dressage Judge, having already been certified to judge Prix St. George/ Inter.I ("B" level). I fondly look back on my five years in South Australia and will never forget my loyal friends and clients.

In 1996 I joined my family in the US as they had moved some fifteen years prior. Once again I was fortunate to participate in regular clinics that Libby organized with Steffen Peters, Gary Rockwell and Michelle Gibson.

To wards the end of 1997 Libby and I decided to buy a horseJules Anderson & 'teamworkdressage' called Goodwood. He was a successful lower level horse who we believed potentially had the talent to compete internationally at Grand Prix. In 1999 and 2000 Goodwood ranked third and fourth respectively in the USDF Grand Prix Freestyle Awards. We also earned a spot on the Australian talent team, (long list) for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Goodwood exceeded the dreams Libby and I had for him. Due to an untimely ligament injury we did not get to compete in the 2000 Olympics, hosted by my home country Australia. Goodwood did return to his competitive peak scoring in the 70's% and loving life. Late 2002 due to a terrible reaction to anesthetic Goodwood was euthanized. Throughout my life the most difficult part of loving an animal is when you have to say goodbye.
