Narobi was found in a field in Sweden at seven years old, unhandled and very distrustful of humans. He was selected by driving World Champion, Thomas Erickson, because he had a good walk, was the right height and color to match a four in hand harness team.
Narobi is a super, sensitive horse and at that time he had a deep distrust of humans and would regularly 'flip' over backwards in total terror. After Narobi blindly panicked, dragging the'team' back to the barn, his driving career was terminated and he was given to Jules to see what he may be like under saddle.
Narobi (Robi is his barn name)was unable to to turn right under saddle and would regularly 'shy' 180 degrees either vertical or horizontal to the ground - he was unridable and it was clear that it would take to take time, quiet expertise and patience to earn his trust. Lucky for Robi Jules was already in love with him and agreed to take him on.
Jules proceeded slowly with Robi! For instance he would buck very high every time you asked for a flying change and did so for over a year. Now his expressive changes score an 8. Over the course of several years Robi learned to love his job and has become an expressive though not entirely reliable Grand Prix horse.
Little Robi is adored and much loved. In 2008 he showed GP and his best test to date was in Florida, a 68% under "O" judge Garry Rockwell.
We tell Robi each day that he is a super horse and gradually he is beginning to believe it himself. |
